Forget flimsy contemporary tailoring; vintage 80s overcoats possess dense wool and broad shoulder pads that hold clean geometric lines on camera. As fall temperatures drop, these massive coats give female talent an effortless, high-fashion silhouette without needing pinned clamps.
Look strictly in the men's 44L+ section; modern women's vintage is cut too narrow to get that editorial drop-shoulder look.
Distressed Moto & Flight Leathers
Brand-new leather bounces strobe light with a cheap, plastic-like sheen that requires endless retouching. Real scuffs, faded collars, and broken-in seams on 90s flight jackets catch hard directional light and immediately add narrative depth to any street portrait.
Skip anything labeled 'vegan leather'—vintage polyurethane flakes into camera sensors and turns chalky under flash.
Chunky Fisherman & Cable-Knit Sweaters
Thick cream or oatmeal Irish knits bring an organic warmth that anchors autumn color palettes against concrete. The deep gauge of the knit catches micro-shadows under natural light, giving the sensor incredible textural data to chew on.
Buy them two sizes too big and intentionally fray the cuffs with a seam ripper for an unstudied, relaxed feel.

Douse the scarf lightly with static guard before shooting so it floats freely instead of clinging to the model's jawline.
Deadstock Pleated Trousers with High Rises
Vintage pleated slacks made from gabardine or houndstooth drape with real weight when the model walks. The natural high waistline extends leg lines in camera, cutting down the need for extreme low-angle focal distortion.
