Dead-eyed staring signals anxiety to the camera every single time. Instead, float your focus in a micro-triangle between the inner corners of the lens ring and the top of the barrel to create an instant illusion of mysterious depth.
Breathe out through your mouth the exact second you cycle your focus points to relax your optic muscles.
The Intimate Enemy Frame of Mind
Treating the sensor like an inanimate object kills the soul of your photo. Pick your absolute favorite person—or your worst rival—and lock eyes directly with the center element as if you are telling them a dirty secret.
Silently speak a full sentence in your head right into the glass; your pupils will dilate naturally.
The Blink-and-Anchor Rhythm
Amateurs hold their eyes open until they water, looking terrified in high resolution. Take control by closing your eyes fully between motor bursts, then opening them directly into the center of the glass on the snap.
Heavy eyes mean stale poses; reset your eyelids every four shutter clicks without changing your neck position.
The Crown-Point Elevation
