Spring: Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Everyone rushes to the Cherry Esplanade, but permits are strict and tourists fill every frame by 10 AM. Walk two blocks east to the brownstone-lined streets of Crown Heights for blooming magnolia trees and good morning light with very little foot traffic.
If you want garden access, book an official permit weeks in advance, or stay on the sidewalk where the blossoms overhang public pathways.
Summer: South Street Seaport
July afternoons in New York mean humidity and squinting into harsh shadows. Shoot in the late evening twilight along Pier 17 instead, when the Brooklyn Bridge glows against a deep blue sky and the heat has broken.
Commercial permits apply inside Pier 17, but public piers are fine for quick, low-profile couple sessions.
Fall: West Village Instead of Central Park
The Central Park Mall at peak foliage looks like a crowded transit hub. Head to the ivy-covered brick townhouses on Perry Street instead, where falling ginkgo leaves make a quiet, movie-set setting for two.
Keep outfits structured. Baggy winter gear hides your posture in seated stoop photos.
Winter: Shoot Indoors
On the Brooklyn Heights Promenade in 20-degree wind, you get red noses and shivering poses. NYC studios like Dante's Models shoot this kind of session indoors, with loft-style natural light and heat, so you look polished.
