What to Pack for a Model Test Shoot
Most models have a moment at an early test shoot where they wish they had brought something. Here is what we would put in the bag.
Want to shoot at any of these with Dante's Models? Book a session or apply to be represented.
The 'Second Skin' Nude Undergarments
Try on a sheer blouse or a form-fitting dress and a bright pink bra shows right through. It happened to one of our new models on a test that mattered. Always bring nude underwear with no visible seams that matches your skin tone, and a strapless bra. They disappear under almost anything.
Look for laser-cut edges. They vanish under fabric.
Your Personal 'Glow-Up' Kit
Makeup artists do the main work, but sometimes you need a quick refresh. A small kit with lip balm, a light moisturizer, blotting papers and a clear brow gel helps. The point is to keep your natural look, not to redo your face.
Add a travel-size dry shampoo for hair emergencies.
The 'Comfort & Convenience' Clutch
This is for everything around the shoot, not the shoot itself: phone, charger, wallet, keys, and maybe a small snack or a pain reliever. One of our young models once forgot his phone charger, and a long day got longer when he could not call his ride. Keep your personal things organized and out of the way.
Pack a refillable water bottle and stay hydrated.
Your 'Personality' Pair of Shoes
Stylists bring most of the wardrobe, but one good pair of your own shoes can be a backup or an unexpected addition. Classic black heels, white sneakers or a distinctive boot all work. It shows initiative and can spark ideas if the provided options are not right. Make sure they are clean.
Bring shoes that are well kept and free of scuffs.
The 'Quiet Contemplation' Notebook
A small notebook and pen are useful. Write down the photographer's name, the stylist's contact, the feedback you get, and ideas for future shoots. It looks professional and helps you build your network and improve.
Use it to sketch poses you have been practicing.
That's the inside look. Save this one for your next shoot.
