Arriving exactly at your call time means you are holding up hair and makeup. The talent who get rebooked arrive fifteen minutes early, grab coffee silently, and sit in the chair the exact minute their slot begins.
If traffic delays you by even four minutes, text the second AD before your call time, not after.
The Assistant Respect Test
Bookers constantly ask first and second digital assistants how talent behaved during downtime. Dismissing the person holding the light meter guarantees your name gets flagged as 'difficult' before the gallery even renders.
Learn the photo assistant's name first; they usually become the associate bookers within two years.
The Unsolicited Direction Trap
Trying to micro-manage your own angles at the client monitor signals insecurity and slows down the art director. Trust the crew to catch your bad side; your job is to stay in character until the strobe stops recycling.
Never look at the capture monitor unless the director explicitly invites you over.
The Wrap-Time Vanishing Act
Sprinting to your Uber the second 'wrap' is called leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Hanging back for two minutes to thank the wardrobe stylist and hand back garments neatly ensures you are remembered as a partner, not just hired help.
Never leave clothes on the floor of the green room; fold or hang them back on the rack immediately.
